Re: protocol dtc
Could you a bit more clear on the issue , , you need to know what protocol a DTC uses at shutdown ?? I suppose you want to know what protocols DTC's use while they boorup , getting the config or the protocol used for communication online
during bootup it depends on the type of DTC , if it is a DTC16RX that would be TFTP
but if it wher any other Type of DTC it would be RBOOTD
Normal traffic over a DTc port on the lan is determined on how you cvonnect , telnet like for normal terminals , printers trought the HPNP protocol etc..
what exactly do you need to know about this??

Re: protocol dtc
I know the DTC uses rbootd to have its configuration downloaded. Once that's done which protocol is used between the async ports and the server? I have a remote DTC booting remotely from a HP9000 thru bridging. I want to add another lan interface to the server bridged to the dtc so download can occur and use the existing interface for actual data from the serial ports to the server. Is this feasible? Does the data transfer between the dtc and the server occurs thru IP or some other protocol?
Connected to the DTC ports we have barcode scanners.
Thanks in advance!

Re: protocol dtc
The protocol the DTC uses for data transfer either if it is a 16RX or 16TN 16/48/72MX or plain DTC16 always is straight IP , you could best compare it with a telnet connection as it is TCP based and uses telnet or OCD for it's functioning , both are TCP implementations so you can boot from a bridged network and reach the DTC from a routed network , no problem in that

Re: protocol dtc
The DTC's I configured used first bootp (see man bootpd), then TFTP (man tftpd), or NFS (man -k nfs).
