Put a DLT8000 tape online

Hello,

How can put back a DLT tape online, after a mt offl command? Is the only solution to eject and put it back?

Thanks in advance

Re: Put a DLT8000 tape online

The mt offl command ejects the tape. Re-inserting the tape should put it back online.

afaik, you have to manually insert the tape again, unless of course it is an autochanger, in which case use the mc command

Thanks,

So there is no remote solution to put a tape online?

The command will eject the tape and will go offline. You need to manually load another tape to get it online.

Re: Put a DLT8000 tape online

Jerome,

I'm not really sure about the meaning of the term offline. The tape is unuseable simply because there is no tape loaded so I guess that makes it "offline". The only way to make it useable is to load a tape and the only way to do that is to insert one. If you have an autochanger you can use the mc command - otherwise it's a manual process by nature.
