Putty - Host name
I am using our old live server as a test box. I have changed the host name to relect this.
However, when ssh from putty (in windoze) to the host, it say 'oldhostname.ourdomain.com' at the top of the window, which is confusing.
I am wondering where it gets this value and how i can change it. I have generated new ssh keys for root user and the host.
Thanks

Re: Putty - Host name
How did you change your hostname:
Have you done it with set_parms hostname.
What does "windoze" says if you're using the ip-address?

Re: Putty - Host name
Putty gets the name of the server from the your routing table of Windows. Try flushing it and configure again.

Re: Putty - Host name
I've actually had a new laptop since the change was made....
Also, the output of hostname and uname -a (and indeed uuname -l ) are correct.
I ran set_parms hostname again, but no joy.
maybe putty has a file somewhere....

Re: Putty - Host name
When you start putty and load the config of your server, what does it say where you need to enter the hostname or ip-address?
What if you remove the host within putty and recreate it?

Re: Putty - Host name
i put the true hostname in 'i.e ngb4000l' but it still comes up saying something else on the bar on top of the putty window.

Re: Putty - Host name
Can you check the following in your registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\Putty\Sessions\
If the hostname is still there try to remove it.
You know if you uninstall things within windows it doesn't remove all registry entries.

Re: Putty - Host name
Are you the only one facing the problem or is it everybody?
Try to install SSH-cli├Г┬лnt, check what the result is.
If Telnet is still open on this server, telnet from your windows command prompt and check the result.
Also perform the following from windows:
- nslookup
- nslookup
- nslookup
