PV Links

If I have 2 NIC cards on a rp3440 with PV links setup and one fails is the failover automatic. Also if I have MC/Service Guard do I need to setup PV links or is this failover handled in by MC/service guard now??

Re: PV Links

My bad I didn't mean PV links I guess my questions would really be do I need MC/Service guard to fail over a NIC card (or Autoport aggregation) and if so where do I tell it in MC/service guard

Re: PV Links

You can configure lan failover cards in cluster config files.

Re: PV Links

I shold add that with APA, you can team up NICs and give them on single ip. So it will give failover and bigger bandwidth.

Re: PV Links

Hi,

Cluster config requires to provide atleast one standby card for all other adapters in the system which works in active-standby mode for all other adapters in the service guard. The actual benefit of APA will be if you have more than one ununsed card in system. To have active-active (Load balancing) support on card used in cluster can make real use of APA. In this case you form a NIC team & use that virtual interface for Service Guard & failover for this team may be to a single card itself.

My current 2 node cluster contains 4 gigabit & 4 10/100 Base T cards in both nodes. One team of two for both is defined as active & other teams for both has been defined as standby in both nodes.
