PV stale information
Hi,
I was in the prcess of doing pv move using shell scripts , but on one pv there are 2 PE in unknown state and I am not able to remove this PV from the VG .This PV is a symm LUN.
--- Physical volumes ---
PV Name /dev/dsk/c101t9d4
VG Name /dev/vg04
PV Status available
Allocatable yes
VGDA 2
Cur LV 0
PE Size (Mbytes) 32
Total PE 674
Free PE 672
Allocated PE 2
Stale PE 0
IO Timeout (Seconds) 90
Autoswitch On
Note 2 PEs still allocated and the status for pv is
00595 current ??? 00000
00596 current ??? 00001
Does anybody faced this problem earlier ? any solution to fix it online .
Thanks in advance,
BL.

Re: PV stale information
This has been seen before.
You may have had a problem with the LUN and the system thinks the disk is part of the VG.
strings /etc/lvmtab
You need to gather some information to see if its appropriate to do a vgreduce -f on the system.
If there is nothing else on the disk, you may deed to do this:
vgreduce -f /dev/vg04 /dev/dsk/c101t9d4
This can be done online so long as there is nothing else on the disk.
There will be instructions at the end of the command and they will need to be followed precisely.
