Re: pvcreate run very slow!
Its not, you can't pvcreate a disk array and you get EMS messages.
Solutions:
1) Ignore it, its an EMS bug.
2) Have the disk/san admin assign some disk to lun0 on any fiber card connected to the array.
3) disconnect the fiber card if its just sitting idle
What you choose is based on your situation. I do 2 when I can sometimes have to do 1.

Re: pvcreate run very slow!
# pvcreate -f /dev/rdsk/c4t1d0
After a very long time (about 10 minutes) I got the message:
Physical volume "/dev/rdsk/c4t1d0" has been successfully created.
Something strange...

Re: pvcreate run very slow!
- Check the hardware. Make sure the SCSI controllers on the DS2405 are OK
- Check you cables. Makes sure they are all seated well and that there are no bent pins in the connectors.
- Check termination. You should probably have a terminator somewhere on the DS2405.
- Make sure all the disks are seated well on the DS2405
- Make sure you are using the appropriate type of SCSI Card for the DS2405.
If all of that checks out -- call HP support.

Re: pvcreate run very slow!
I had faced the problem once ..but that time ... I had to replace the card ...anyway...
How many controllers are there in the system.. ?
If there is another controller ... you can identify which controller is giving the issue...
What happens when u issue "ioscan -fnC disk" how much it takes to give the output ...
Please check the syslog at the same time whether any errors are reported....
