PWplus: Cannot open dictionary index files.

Hi all,

we are facing one strange issue on one server, when user trie to change passworg it say "PWplus: Cannot open dictionary index files." and dont allow to change it. Any idea how to fix it or what is this related to ?

System is HP-UX, local passwords

Try to reinstall PWplus or check permissions on dict files.

But where is that dictionary file ? i see this first time in my life, never had problem with this.

Check in /opt/pwplus/

What is your version 3.1 , 4.0 ?

Issue solved :D

we were missing file index file
lrwx------ 1 root sys 30 Sep 9 2005 index.pag -> /var/adm/crash/space/index.pag


Creating directory space ant touch that file solved the problem...

I would think that there is no connection between PWplus and crash dumps.

Perhaps you just need a file??

For PWPlus 4.0 all dictionaries are located in /opt/pwplus/share/data/

with index files :

/opt/pwplus/share/dict/index.dir
/opt/pwplus/share/dict/index.pag


You can check it with swlist:

swlist -l file PWplus
