question: license for upgrade 11 from 10.20 (continue)

Thank you, Jerome BARON,

How about license for upgrade 11.0 from 10.20?

How can I get the license number in Hp-ux? then I can contact the local HP. is upgrading license cheaper than a new one? I just take over system and can not contact the old admin guy.
Thanks in advance.

If you have a software support contract you can get the upgrade for free.

My last conversation with HP led me to the understanding that if you own the box, you have a license.

If this is an Enterprise environment a software support contract is a much. Relying on us message board posters for support is nice, but in a pinch, when you need to have a system up by morning, no matter what, a you need support.

It's usually not THAT expensive. Not as expensive as downtime in primetime.

I agree with Steven. You should at the least have a software contract so you get all the upgrades and latest patches sent to you.

Steven: My most recent experience with a "brokered" box indicates that HP requires a license for the box, and will not assume it. You'd probably never get nailed for an illegal use of the OS, but they won't let you buy support without proof of license.
