Hello,
In the past, I have used an image off a
C3600 (2.0 PA8600) running HP-UX 10.20 to
ignite other C3600s as well as J5000s (2.0 PA8500).
If I build a C3750 (2.0 PA8700) running HP-UX 11.00 and take an
image, can that media be used to ignite:
1) a J5000 (2.0 PA8500)?
2) a J6750 (2.0 PA8700)?
And conversely, can I use the image off a J6750 to ignite a J5000?
Is there a significant difference in their
architectures that would require having a
golden image system for each model (J5000, J6750, C3750)?
How would one make such a determination?
Thank you.

I gave him his drink as usual. Some men can't hold their arsenic.

Solution
I don't have any experience of the specific hardware but you are supposed to be able to do this. All the hardware specific stuff is sorted out at Ignite time.
Never preceed any demonstration with anything more predictive than "watch this"

Re: question of igniting different architecture versions with the same image
Hi,
the differences between the models are only slight so you should be able to use the same ignite backup to ignite any of them.
Important to know is that in doing so you should always select the "Additional" option "Cloning to different HW" = TRUE.
This will not work, if you want to ignite a machine with a totally different architecture such as a D-class server (EISA and HSC bus, no PCI), entirely different cards, drivers etc.
Also you cannot use a 64-bit OS Image on a 32-bit only machine and vice versa.
Regards,
Bernhard
