question on ftp

Hi all,

If I issue a ftp command from my PC to HP Server, can I restrict the user only perform 'put' or 'mput' by setting some configuration at the server side ?

Regards,
Patrick

Re: question on ftp

Why not just deny read access on the files / directories you dont want him to get?
What you don't see, you dont get :)
Have you considered using an 'anonymous' ftp account?

Re: question on ftp

Hi,
Agood idea to prevent system from exploration by ftp users is to use guets ftp account. then you can control ftp user by limiting directories he sees and commands he can execute.

Re: question on ftp

Hi Patrick,

Note that HPUX 11.x has wuftp as it's ftp daemon by default. You have to configure it to use the /etc/ftpd/ftpaccess file and add -a to the /etc/inetd.conf ftpd command.

I'd read the man pages or look up the howtos on wuftp website.
