i have several hpvms running (11.31). to each of these hpvms i have added a lvol created from the host (which is an hpux 11.31 also)
the strange happens, when i remove the logical volume where the only disk for the hpvm runs from and i confirm that the logical volume does not exist anymore (via vgdisplay, or lvdisplay on the host); however if i can start the hpvm like nothing has changed. Is there some cached storage for the hpvms (i think not, but am puzzled and do not know why this happens). if you have any idea, please let me know.
this is what i did:
1. create the hpvm either as hpvmcreate or hpvmclone.
2. created a lvol, with lvcreate
4. hpvmmodified the hpvm with addidng the disk
=
5. i did install hpux in this hpvm
6. i go and stop the hpvm
7. i go and lvremove the lvol from the host
8. hpvmstart -P hpvm002 and the hpvmstarts.
the size of the hpvm is 200G
thank you,
./antonio/.

Re: question on the hpvmmodify
thank you for your reply.
however, i have removed all the lvms, and vgs, and i reconstructed everything from scratch.
do you have any idea why such things would happens. i mean, why even if you remove the lvm that is attached to the hpvm, you still can start the hpvm and it will show all files and system, like it wasn't removed ?
i will replicate this and update the forum, but right now i am using the only available partition for the recreation of the hpvm.
thank you for your help and reply,
./antonio/.

I have never seen this kind of behavior in my hpvm setup. Please capture the logs of each steps if you are replicating setup and see the issue. You can update the logs if you are seeing the issue.

Re: question on the hpvmmodify
i am closing this thread because i could not replicate. the solution, was to recreate the lvol with a complete different name, remove the old lv from the hpvm and add the new one into the hpvm.
thank you very much,
./antonio/.
