Question regarding an Ignite recovery plan
If I create an Ignite ‘make_tape_receovery’ tape on an Itanium system can I use that tape to recovery ‘any’ other Itanium server or like the older versions of Ignite the servers hardware architecture is required to be very similar, to work properly. In this particular case I want to create an Ignite ‘make_tape_receovery’ tape on an rx8640 server and use that tape to restore an rx4640 server. Any thoughts?

Re: Question regarding an Ignite recovery plan
Shalom,
An rx4640 is not a cell based server. An rx8640 is.
The hardware is very different.
This has been attempted in the past. It has failed and it has succeeded. You might find a golden image works better.

Bottom line is you need to test it. Due to hardware differences it could be a hard road.
