queue depth

Hello,

I try to find, what is the best queue depth for hpux 11iv3.

I know the default is 8, but, it is important to modify this parameter with scsimgr or not ?

Best Regards.

Re: queue depth

Hi,

the common todo is adjusting the parameter so that it's equal to the number of spindles behind the disk. But if you can't see numbers above 1 in avwait column of sar -d command, i think it may not be necessary.

Re: queue depth

Can we use this rule :

The Queue Depth of disk arrays controller / The total number of server connected to this controller= Queue Depth on the Server for all the Luns.

Thanks.

Re: queue depth

David,

HP-UX11iv3 is capable of more than most OS's in this space, in that it can dynamically manage the queue depth of a bunch of LUNs on a target port to match what the target port can handle.
