Re: "halting" status when running command "cmviewcl"
Status of the cluster, node, package, etc.
Status is either "up", "down", "starting", "halting" or
"unknown". "unknown" is a special status to
denote that we cannot collect enough information
to exactly determine whether the item is up or
down, e.g., when some of the nodes in the cluster
cannot be reached over the network.

Re: "halting" status when running command "cmviewcl"
The control script is active deactivating the package. If
I would consider it a critical message, since it is the equivalent of a shutdown on package level.

Re: "halting" status when running command "cmviewcl"
In cmviewcl, the halting status means that a package or a node is in the process of shutting down. Whether this is a bad thing or not depends on your situation. If you are bringing down a package and/or a node for some planned maintenance, it would be normal to see the halting status. For just monitoring cmviewcl on a regular basis though, I would think that the halting status should be a critical warning.

Re: "halting" status when running command "cmviewcl"
Halting status implies that the package is going down. Can be because of imminent failover due to HW causes or monitoring noticed a failure or simply because the cmhaltpkg command was run.
It is *not* an indication that all is well on a "normal" unattended package.

Jeff

Re: "halting" status when running command "cmviewcl"
halting status in cmviewcl is the status when the package is being shutdown in a proper manner. Maybe the package is being shutdown manually by an admin.
I've not see this error occur in any case other than a package shutdown (normal shutdown).
Hope this helps.

Re: "halting" status when running command "cmviewcl"
When the lan did make a switch to the alternate interface this package went down. I did not check the cmviewcl output but in syslog the messages were the same as if the package was brought down manualy.

Gideon
