"who" and /etc/utmp

I have a large output of users, when I use:

#who -T

Really it is all connections for all system uptime. :)) Not only current.

I have made # > /etc/utmp and all was cleared. But what is the reason?
How I could make "who" to show me only current connections?

Regards.

Re: "who" and /etc/utmp

Hi,

all suggestions are useful.
I usually use

# who -R

but really there are some methods to know current connections.
Otherwise your action is right! To clear /etc/utmp just launch

# > /etc/utmp
