RAID-5 and 11.00?

I have a HP N class server running 11.00 with 800 gig internal to the cabinet, 43 18 gig drives. What if any software options do I have in order to implement raid5, besides purchaseing Veritas FS and Veritas Volume manager.

Thanks for any info,
Jason

As far as I know, there is no HP software that will allow you to do RAID 5. HP does RAID 5 only via their hardware RAID Arrays.

If Veritas does software RAID for HP-UX, that is probably your only option.

I don't think you need to get additional software for configring RAID5. I also hope RAID 5 will be normally implemented on hardware.

Re: RAID-5 and 11.00?

Hi:

Veritas Volume Manager version 3.1 is available on 11.11. When coupled with the add-on (separately licesed) product B9116AA, you can configure RAID-5; get dynamic load-balancing via pvlinks; have mirrored stripes (RAID-1 + RAID-0) and striped mirrors (RAID-0 + RAID-1); and obtain hot relocation of mirrored or RAID-5 data.
