ram memory not configured

I have a system with 2 itanium cpus and HP-UX 11.2. Since I started up the system I get a message:

4096 Mb Installed
3072 Mb configured
3071 Mb tested

which means that 1 Gb of memory is not being configured. Any idea of how I can fix this?

Re: ram memory not configured

you probably can just create a partition that uses/allocates the size of the free space using sam or unix commands.

Re: ram memory not configured

There is probably a single bit error in memory, what makes system to disable this 1GB of memory. You should also see a message like this in your console screen during boot:
"8C95: DIMMs maped out: Lower Board, 5 - 8"

You can reset/clear CMOS via front panel to see if system redetect a defective memory. In this case, a board replacement would be needed. Other thing to check is the PDC firmware, it should be in the latest revision: B76. It is normally displayed after latest system self-tests.

Re: ram memory not configured

Hi,
chances are
seems to be one of your RAM module is bad.
or if you have installed higher capacity RAM(256MB, 512 MB) in higher slots(1A & 1B or in 2A & 2B ... which will be on board) with lower capacity RAM (128 MB) module on 0A & 0B slots then this problem appear.
The 0A and 0B slots should contain the higher capacity RAM module in your system, then 1A & 1B then 2A & 2B....
