Raw devices or file systems with Oracle?

Raw devices or file systems with Oracle?

Is there a big difference in access speed between raw devices and file systems with new disk technologies?. How can I see the difference (OS commands, sar, top, etc..) I know raw devices are more hard to manage than filesystems? Specially when they collapsed or lost. I am working with EMC symmetrix and HP-UX 11.0
