RAW Volumes and RAC

Hi all ,
i installed a 2 hp rp servers cluster (service guard ) and i have installed and configured the service guard extension for RAC ,
the cluster is UP and i have a shared volume group for the RAC ,
my question is that now i need to create raw logical volumes on the shared volume group , so when i should create them , before running the cluster or while the cluster is running ?
and on which node should i configure them??
thank 's for your help

Re: RAW Volumes and RAC

you can create the raw spaces while the cluster is running and you should do it on your primary server as the (shared) volume group will not be active on the secondary server. just make sure after you have done so, you go on the secondary server to create the links.

almost forgot: make sure you do export and import as well... since this is a shared volume group...

Re: RAW Volumes and RAC

You should also note that if you are running 11.23, because you already have the MC/SG eRAC software, you also have the option of using the Clustered File System (CFS). CFS allows multiple hosts in the cluster to use fully cooked files so that you no longer have to use raw devices. CFS appears to all hosts as though it is a locally mounted vxfs filesystem and is mounted read-write on all the hosts.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
