rcmd: recv: Connection reset by peer !

Hi !

I´m experimenting a strange issue between two hpux servers when i executed remote commands.

servera# remsh serverb ll
rcmd: recv: Connection reset by peer

The same message appears when i executed the rcp command.

The funny is that the event appears randomly !

Somebody hava an idea ?

Thank's in advance !

Re: rcmd: recv: Connection reset by peer !

Hi,

The error "connection reset by peer" indicates connection was dropped by the remote host. It usually shows a network communication problem in terms of IPC or TCP sockets connection break.

Did you see any message in the syslog of the remote system , when you try to run a
rcmd from local host?

I do suspect the problem could be with nstrpty or npty kernel parameters of the remote host. If the remote host can't allocate ptys as required , the connection would be reset.
Hence you may require to increase those parameters appropriatly knowing current use.
