re : bdf problem
Hi Guys,
can someone advice why after I deleted certain files on a lvol and free some space out on a logical volume. When I run bdf the space is not updated with the free space.
Let say i have lvol4 space 4000GB
I deleted some files on this lvol4 and now is left with 2000GB
But when I run bdf, the 2000GB space is not added to the available space.
Kindly advice
Regards
Vincent

Re: re : bdf problem
Most of the time this happens because a file is deleted when it is still being accesses by a process. So space will be released only after such a process stops. What file did you delete? If you have lsof tool, you can check what file is deleted but such file was still being accesses by a process.

Hi Vincent,
Check with "fuser" to find out any files are being used in the particular LV.
# fuser -u will help you. You can kill the processes by # fuser -ku
