Re-build Raid hard drive

I have two hard drive that plug into the slot 1 & 2 of server , ( they are hot plug and hardware raid card is available ) , the Raid-1 is configured . now , I found the hard drive 2 is failure , if I replace this hard drive , does the server will re-build the hard drive automatically ( copy all data from 1 to 2 ) ? if yes , does hard drive 2 can boot up after re-build ? thx

Re: Re-build Raid hard drive

Hi,

if you have a hardware raid (smartarray), you need to do nothing. Just check the status for your safety (sautil).

If you use LVM mirroring, you need to rebuild the structures by yourself.
The procedure depends on your type of system (PA-RISC or Integrity). Run "model" to get this information.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
