Hi Guys,
Can anyone help, I have a j-calss workstation J6750, in it HP CIFS is install and configure and now I want to move the samba to a rp3440, can it be done. What is the steps to prevent reconfiguration. I want to use back the existing configuration??
Pls advice??

Hi Vincent,
The first step is to install CIFS on the RP3440. There may be differences between the CIFS version on your J-class and the latest so I'd suggest you read the release notes to check. It's also worth checking the section on kernel parameters in the admin guide to ensure they are set correctly.
The main configuration file is /etc/opt/samba/smb.conf. You should also copy across any mapping files referenced in this file. Run testparm to check the syntax of the smb.conf. Also check the users and share paths mentioned in the config to ensure they exist on the RP3440.
Finally, if your existing CIFS server is part of a Windows domain you should ensure that the new server is correctly entered into the domain.
