Re: reboot problem

I'm not sure what's wrong. It seems when you login, it shuts down.
The system is ready.
GenericSysName [HP Release B.11.11] (see /etc/issue)

Press Q/q to quit, Enter to continue:
Console Login: May 20 15:00:06 dldptest01 syslogd: bind: Address already in use

SHUTDOWN PROGRAM

It seems you should have tried logging on here.
Then during the shutdown, there were more login prompts:
Killing user processes .......................................
GenericSysName [HP Release B.11.11] (see /etc/issue)
Console Login:
GenericSysName [HP Release B.11.11] (see /etc/issue)
Console Login: OK

(Instead of typing "OK" above, you should have logged in.)

Do you have a serial console or graphics?

Have you tried booting in single user mode?
Is there something in your profile that immediately will shutdown the system?

Re: reboot problem

Try booting in single user mode, I have a feeling that may not help.

Try booting in lvm maintenance mode using hpux -lm at ISL prompt when it asks you to press any key within 10 seconds while booting.

Similarlt hpux -is can be used to boot in single user mode.

Re: reboot problem

Hi Prasad

you can use PDC to boot the system in single-user mode for maintenance
purposes. The PDC command used for this purpose is:
Main Menu: Enter command or menu > boot pri -is
On other machines, you can stop the boot process and use ISL to boot into single-user mode as
shown here.
Main Menu: Enter command or menu > boot pri
Interact with ISL (Y or N)?> Y
When you get the ISL prompt, use the following command to boot into single-user mode.
ISL> hpux
Best u have to tried run recovery console mode.

Re: reboot problem

hello Saravanan_rg

i run the following commands as you said:
Main Menu: Enter command or menu > boot pri -is
Main Menu: Enter command or menu > boot pri
Interact with ISL (Y or N)?> Y

but after the giving acknowledgement to the message two times, nothing happens ..

it is stuck at this point
Anything else skip redisplay the log entry
->Choice:a

now also tell me
> Best u have to tried run recovery console mode.

how to do this

Re: reboot problem

for recovery console mode , you need to boot the system with OS CD and then select the recovery from there...

It will gove you some options there abt what do you want to repair.. Try repairing the LVM structure without replacing vmunix.
