Is there a file in /var/adm/sw that we can recover that will let this system know where the depots are?
I am hoping that we do not have to swreg all of the depots.
Thanks,
Eileen

Re: recovering software depot from tape to new system
If you fire up
swinstall
you can tell it where the depot is.

SolutionJust edit the file; /var/adm/sw/host_object and add in your depots in the same format as exsiting ones there (if non swreg one so you can see the format).

Re: recovering software depot from tape to new system
The problem is that we have a depot structure for 10.20 with all the HP apps, patches and third party software and have the same for 11.00. I would have to tell it about every depot path.
We have something like this
/depot/10.20/800/hp and nonhp and patches
/depot/10.20/700/hp and nonhp and patches
/depot/11.00/800/hp and nonhp and patches
under patches we have infastructure, oracle and
other specific application patches.

Re: recovering software depot from tape to new system
After youve edited host_object restart swagentd to see them via swlist -l depot (sbin/init.d/swagentd stop then start)

Re: recovering software depot from tape to new system
The file is being restored from a backup.
If it works, it will save a lot of time.
This is likely an undocumented life saver.
