Re: Recovery tapes

Hi

Have searched for 'remote ignite' and found

Look in the directory /opt/ignite/share/doc

In that directory you should find a file called: makenetrec.txt

In that file there is a section that talks specifically about
how to create a bootable recovery tape from an archive
that was created with make_net_recovery. The section you want is titled "Creating a Bootable Archive Tape".

Re: Recovery tapes

The Ignite/UX software is downloaded from:

http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/

It is best to download the latest version to make sure you have support for all the peripherals and CPU's. Ignite/UX is used to create a tape or network bootable recovery of vg00. Ignite/UX should not be used as a day-to-day backup method. Use fbackup over the network to a central server for the daily backups.

With 10 machines, you will need an automated tape library to backup all those machines unless you have a lot of free time to change tapes. You should also look at a commercial quality backup program such as HP's Omniback which handles multiple systems and tape libraries.

Re: Recovery tapes

Hi,

Have a look at the on-line documentation for ignite.
