Reflection X
while our networkers stopped WINS ( they are using novell now) my reflection connection to my HPUX servers failed.
The note says that the XDMCP-Connection failed ... (RX2102).
Telnet is ok.
where should i look, or have to change something?
Thanks Volker

Re: Reflection X
The Novell protocol don't work with HP ;-)
The WINS server convert access between Novell world and the rest +? our planet.
Shure that you are in TCPIP first, then
try to configurate xdmcp in query mode and specified the HP server adress.
See you.

Re: Reflection X
I use xdmcp direct by IP address to connect.

Re: Reflection X
as i understand i use XDMCP to get the special "reflection-window" (to work on my server).
when i start reflection with XDMCP Broadcast, it shows me all my unix servers - so there must be a "sign" of them.
if i start telnet ... i get a connection but not the "X" window.

Re: Reflection X
Setup Reflection connection settings as follows:
Method: TELNET
Host name: hosta
user name: dave
password: decide if you want auto login or ask for password each time. If userid is root I suggest you enter password each time.
Command:(/usr/bin/X11/hpterm -sl 5s -sb +ls -display %IP#% - name %T% &)
You can add -geometry 132x54-0+0 before the & if you want to control the size and placement of the window.
This will use TELNET to connect to your system then start the X-Windows environment for that system. You can open an X-Window for each server and not have any impact from one to the other as you would with CDE and XDMCP.
Good luck
-Dave
