Regarding alternate to Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software.

Hi Admin,

We are planning to install Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software, but server doesnot support HP UX 11.00 with 32/64 bit kernel.

Any knows alternate to Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software for HP UX 11.00 with 32/64 bit kernel.

Waiting for help.

Regards,
Viswa.

Re: Regarding alternate to Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software.

HI:

HP-UX 11.0 saw the end of its support almost 2-years ago at December 31, 2006.

The difficulty in finding software for out-dated releases should tell you some of the value in updating to current, supported releases!

Re: Regarding alternate to Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software.

Viswanadhan,

If I remember good, 11.00 did not work 64 bits. Only 32 bits, PGP used to be good for versions since the 10.20 in HP-UX.

For more info take a look at this thread:

Re: Regarding alternate to Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software.

HP-UX 11.0 was available for either 32 or 64 bits. use:

getconf KERNEL_BITS

to determine which.

As for PGP, you might consider GNUs Privacy Guard (GPG), but most likely you will have to download / build from sources.

later versions (in at least some releases) of OpenSSL have the "openssl" command which may be useful depending upon what you want to encypt.

Re: Regarding alternate to Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software.

Hi All,

I have gone through GNU PG software recommendations, I got for HPUX v9.x, v10.x and v11.0 with HPPA CPU.

Can any tell me, what HPPA CPU?

PGP cares about your kernel? Really?
Perhaps it would be useful to describe your
actual problem.

Sounds about right.

Re: Regarding alternate to Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software.

Shalom,

If I remember good, 11.00 did not work 64 bits. Only 32 bits, PGP used to be

10.20 and 11.00 both supported 64 bit and 32.

11.00 is old and out of support.

The only thing you can do is try to compile something for it from source.

I strongly suggest a supported Os.

HPPA - HP PA-RISC (non-Itanium)

Right, HP Precision Architecture was retconned to Precision Architecture RISC in order to get more companies to use it.
