Regarding disk problem...
We have one HP-UX machine (model:715/100).
Problem: System is not booting because of not detecting the hard disk.I ran the 'ioscan' command so many times and I checked the physical connection.I seems to be ok.
Is there otherway to check the status of the hard disk.?
Thanks
srinu.

Re: Regarding disk problem...
did you check the output of "setboot"? maybe you've got wrong path configured.
GOOD LUCK!

Re: Regarding disk problem...
ioscan is a hpux command? so if its not booted up into hpux where are you running the command.
stop the 715 from booting at the BCH prompt by pressing escape when you get the first grey box appearing and do a serach here,
just type sea
this will search for possible boot devices.
how many devices are in the system, and check scsi id for conflicts if anything else has been added since last good boot.
it could be just the disk is failed.
do you have a cdrom drive in or attached that you can try and boot from.

Re: Regarding disk problem...
Is that the boot disk or some other disk?
check if the disk is getting initialized when u power on the system, you can hear some tuk tuk sound when the disk is getting initialized. and u can also feel if the platters are rotating. If not then the disk is gone bad, if not then there are 505/50 % chances the electronics isnt working OK.
Chck changing the cable maybe shuffle the SCSI connector
so the disk can be gone bad.
Good Luck,
Rgds
