Regarding Hp UX OS Recovery

Hi all,
Rp 7420 has 2 partition one partition has got os crash dump and the rebooting the partition gives the error message as fsck cannot run
/sbin/lib/mfsconfig file missing. the os is not coming up by single user mode or lvm maintenace mode or normal mode. now planned to recover the os i don't have ignite backup i need to recover it by cd any one can help out on giving the steps.

Hello jollyjet.

you can try with an ignite backup from a similar system rp7420. or an ignite backup from a diferent system.

or you can try your OS installation cd and run a recovery shell.

check the other partition has this file /sbin/lib/mfsconfig. If yes, then make a recovery tape out of this OS and boot the other partition with this tape. When system is up, then do post modification. Cheers

Hi,

It sound like you will need to recover from the CD. Do ypu have a mirror of the root volume you group. Or an ignite backup tape. if not maybe HP can provide a solution. after all is done I run an ignite tape when you recovery your system.
