Regarding the latest version of HPUX OS
Does somebody knows what is the latest version of HPUX/HP OS available?
Is the OS of HP or HPUX(i.e. is there any difference b/w the two or is it one only)?
What does "i" stands for in "11.11i"?
Also if I have "11.11" version of OS and I apply latest HPUX patches for "11.11i" version, can I say that current version of my OS is 11.11i?
Thanx in advance for your response.
Regards,
Pankaj

Re: Regarding the latest version of HPUX OS
There is no OS name HP it is only HPUX
and version i means Internet ready (Just like oracle).
Latest version for RISC Based systems it is 11i or 11.11 only, appling change will not make any difference on OS version Unlike Oracle.
For Itanium based system latest version is 11i V1.6 (11i V1.6).
no HP UX 11.11 and 11i is different OS ou can not reach to 11i by appling latest patch, you have to do new install.

Re: Regarding the latest version of HPUX OS
HP-UX 11i refers to any version newer than HP-UX 11.0, whether it is 11.11 for PA-RISC, or any of the 11.11 versions for Itanium (V1.6 or 11.23 or whatever they choose to call it - it's all 11i). It's confusing the way HP has chosen to number the OS versions but hopefully this will improve once the Itanium and PA-RISC versions merge.

Re: Regarding the latest version of HPUX OS
indicates that HP-UX versions are now numbered
on the complex number plane. Hence, HP-UX 11i
v1.0 = 11.0 + 1.0*i, HP-UX 11i v1.5 = 11.0 + 1.5*i,
etc. (:-) for the math impaired.)
But seriously, 11i is the idiotic "brand name" given to
HP-UX post-11.0, presumably by HP marketing. The
11.xx number is the internal name. Saying that your
machine has HP-UX 11.11 is equivalent to saying that
it has HP-UX 11i v1.0.
The mapping between the marketing name and the
internal name (given on the link previously posted)
makes no sense, but there's nothing to be done
about it.
