Regarding the Password Reset
when Iam trying to resetting my password , the system is giving an error message like iam trying to reset the password with old password.is it possbile to override this setting

see man passwd for more info.
can you try using the root user and do something like:
#passwd

If you have NIS in place and you don't know the "old" password, the only option I know to reset the password is to delete the user, update NIS, create the user again, set password, and replicate NIS....

# pwck
# awk -F: '{print $1 " " $3 " " $4 " " $5}' /etc/passwd | sort
and check for duplicates usernames and userid's.
# file /usr/bin/passwd
# file /sbin/passwd
Try with the /sbin/passwd to change the password.
