Reinstalling SGeSAP & SG-NFS-Toolkit

Hi All,

We have a requirement to reinstall the SGeSAP and SG-NFS-Toolkit, as there are errors in the existing softwares. This is a production system. Require you experts' help to draft the action plan. For information, existing versions:-

B3935DA A.11.16.00 Serviceguard
B5140BA A.11.11.06 Serviceguard NFS Toolkit
B7885BA B.04.01 Serviceguard Extension for SAP

installing the toolkits simply installs the various "bits" into /opt/cmcluster/toolkits subdirectory.
It does NOT affect or change anything currently running.
In fact, if you had used the toolkits (as in followed the instructions and copied the various files into your package directory(s)) you could swremove the toolkits with no effect at all.

Hi Melvyn, thanks for your response. Since, I need to do the activity on a production environment, I need to have the max efficient rollback option. What are the precautions I need to take?

none. Like I said, it will simply install the toolkits into /opt/cmcluster/toolkit sub-directory, no reboot or anything else.
If you do want a RollBack plan, just backup that directory.
You could also try swremove th toolkits before re-installing them.

As Melvyn stated, these toolkits contain source files that the integrator eventually copies to package directories and then modifies for the environment.
Therefore you can re-install toolkit files at any time during system operation, since they are not referenced during production operations.

I am doing the activity on 19-Sep-10. Thanks for your guidelines. Just one more question. The installations were done in 2006 and I couldn't locate the Application Software CD set that contained SG-NFS-Tool version A.11.11.06 as on date. So, planning to go with version A.11.11.08 which is available. Hope uninstalling the older version and reinstalling the newer one would be just fine.

the same applies to the NFS Toolkit, in fact to ANY of teh toolkits, so just follow the same guidelines
