Remote printer is down

In my environment.
HPUX 11.11 has configured 10 remote printers.
The 10 printers are all connect with windows2003.

Does anyone has the experiecne in which situation the "lpstat -t" will show "printer is down" ? From my example, sometimes only 2-3 printer will show it. I need to enable the printer to use it.

Thanks.

Re: Remote printer is down

Unfortunately, the rlp service is fairly fragile and there are no diagnostics on HP-UX that can determine why the Windows server is not responding. Note that Windows handles Unix printing separately from sharing printing services to other PCs so you can't use PC shares as a measure of the Unix shares. You will probably need to restart the Unix printing service on the Windows box.

This is why it is recommended to put printers directly onto the network (ideally with HP LAN cards) and talk directly to the printers without a Windows server.

2)paper out condition
3) n/w connectivity problem
4) if u network interface card of printer or device on which through printer connecting to n/w

solution:
1) enable matually by enable command or SAM
