Re: remote printer
you need hp jetadmin to configure a network printer under hp-ux. the jetadmin has been discontinued, you can use hp distributed print services or download jetadmin from hp web-site.
hope this helps.

SolutionTo download hp jetadmin,
ftp to ftp.hp.com (anonymous login)
cd to /pub/networking/software
choose binary mode of transfer
get HP11d621.SD (for 11x)
get HP10d621.SD (for 10.20)

Re: remote printer
As they says download jetadmin and install it on server.
Then on server setup network printer. You need IP address for that printer(if it is network printer, Jetdirect card) and on client setup remote printer.
use sam for remote printer setup or lpadmin.
use jetadmin to setup netwrok printer on server.

Re: remote printer
First ping the printer ip from your system and see whether the ping is working okay. Next if you have jetadmin installed, run SAM and while adding the printer select network printer using hp jetadmin. Then no need to configure bootp etc, just add a printer. Give the printer ip and it should be able to open the printer configuratrion. change the name if you want and then save the configuration by selecting "0". Exit from the configuration, set the printer to default if you want and you should be able to print, check the status of the printer using "lpstat -t".
hope this helps.
