Remove of a patch from the bundle

Remove of a patch from the bundle

It is possible to remove a specific patch from one of the bundle. For eg. In the bundle GOLDBASE11i there is a patch/fileset called "GOLDBASE11i.PHCO_25979"

I tried removing the above using the swremove and the swremove UI. But it failed in both cases. Can it be removed in any other way or do I have to provide some option?

Re: Remove of a patch from the bundle

If you are installing the bundle and want to include a patch,the way I know is to

swinstall -s /cdrom/GOLDBASE11i

Use the interactive swinstall screen select/mark the bundle and then unmark/deselect the patch

Re: Remove of a patch from the bundle

Is this bundle installed on your server or in a depot ? in either case it should be no problem removing it, ive done it before. what errors do you get when trying ? (need to see content from /var/adm/sw/swagent.log)

Re: Remove of a patch from the bundle

The error when I execute the swremove command is:

# swremove GOLDAPPS11i.PHCO_27037

======= 02/10/04 10:56:05 EST BEGIN swremove SESSION
(non-interactive) (jobid=inmco17-0044)

* Session started for user "root@inmco17".

* Beginning Selection
* Target connection succeeded for "inmco17:/".
ERROR: Cannot continue the "swremove" task.
* Selection had errors.

======= 02/10/04 10:56:07 EST END swremove SESSION (non-interactive)
(jobid=inmco17-0044)

Re: Remove of a patch from the bundle

Try
# swremove -v -x mount_all_filesystems=false PHCO_27037
and post the output here.

That is, don't preface the patch with the bundle name.

Re: Remove of a patch from the bundle

Peters post works if its already installed.

It might not work if other patches depend on this one patch. You might need to in that case remove the whole bundle.

Its unclear to me whether its installed or not.

Of not, copy the bundle to disk cd to the bundle and rm -rf the PHCO_25979

I used to do that for every 11.00 patch set that contained PHKL_18453 (bad memories).

If the patch is the important, that may disable the bundle.
