Removing a logical volume, Does it need reboot ?

Hi all,
For HP-UX 11.00. If I remove a logical volume, Will it reboot?

Any help is really appreciated.

No, normal logical volumes do not need a reboot.

The only exception would be if you were trying to remove a logical volume which is being used for swap space.

Re: Removing a logical volume, Does it need reboot ?

It depends on the logical volume in question. If it contains a file system, you will have to be able to unmount that file system. For most of the vg00 or "root" file systems (/var, /opt, /usr, etc.), it is basically impossible to unmount without re-booting into single user mode. Other file systems, if you can unmount them will not require a re-boot.

And Michael has covered swap so that should cover it.
