Removing swap spaces

Removing swap spaces

I know that a reboot is required before the
removing of a swap area will take affect.

However, what I am not clear on is if sam
FORCES an immediate reboot after a swap space
is removed. In other words, can I remove the
swap space and let the change wait in limbo so to speak until the next time I can more
conveniently reboot the system or will it
force the shutdown at the time the swap is
removed??

Thanks in advance

Re: Removing swap spaces

Hi Ted
I understandwhat you are doing is not on the primary swap space. For the secondary swap space you can manually from the commnad line or thorugh SAM remove and add w/o rebooting the system . For the primary swap modification ( you cannot remove it ) you woul need to reboot the sytem to make the changes into effect.

Re: Removing swap spaces

Hi,

I would simply edit /etc/fstab and remove the secondary swap entries and reboot at my convenience.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Removing swap spaces

Hello,

if I remember right, what SAM does, is exactly
what Clay tells you: remove the swap line from
"/etc/fstab" and then reboot (or not reboot).

Re: Removing swap spaces

Remove the secondary swap entries in /etc/fstab,
#swapon -a
#swapinfo -mt.If you have problem reboot.
