Removing the existing server from VA7100

Hi Good Morning,
Currently we have connected one npar rp7410(NO Vpars) to VA7100.VG01 & VG02 resides inthat VA7410.Customer has purchased one rp 3440 with FC Card.He wants to remove that rp410 from that VA & he needs to connect this new server to VA7100.But the same VG's should be able to access from this serverwithour losing date.

I will export the map files of those VG's & i will import in that newserver. Is there any thing we need to change in Command View like WWN..Bcoz of change in FC card...

Re: Removing the existing server from VA7100

Hi,

while exporting pls execute this command:

# vgexport -s -m /tmp/.map

this will create map file with VGID so while importing no need to worry abt the device file names as it will scan all the LUNs for this VGID and update the configuration accordingly at lvmtab etc.

Re: Removing the existing server from VA7100

Nothing to be changed from HPUX end.
If it is a direct connect then nothing to be changed but if it is connected using SAN switch then you may have to check the zoning etc at switch end.
So as far as hpux is concerned no changes are required u can go ahead with that command.

Re: Removing the existing server from VA7100

If you have security enabled on the va then only the WWN's of the HBAs configured into the va7100 will have access to the LUNs.

If this is the case you'll need to add the new WWN as hosts in the va and then enable this WWN to access the LUNs.

do a man on armhost and armsecure or use the commandview GUI
