Hi guys,

Newbie here. User gets this message while trying to perform rcp. How/where do I reset this password? Is it refering to the users password? Thanks

Re: remshd:Password expired.

It is referring to the password of the user on the REMOTE machine the he/she is trying to connect to.

Re: remshd:Password expired.

Hi

Yes, the users password has expired in the machine they are trying to copy the file to.

They will need to reset it and try again.

Cheers

Re: remshd:Password expired.

Please check the $HOME/.rhosts or /etc/hosts.equiv file. If the user has paaswordfree access you should not get this message.

Additional recommendations:

Assign points to those above who helped you.

Eliminate rcp.

Here is free secure replacement software and a paper to show how to set up secure password free scp(instead of rcp) for HP-UX.
