Repairing mirrored boot drive after disk failure

We have a rx3600 running HP-UX 11.23.
One of the drives failed that was part of the boot drive.
We have replaced the drive.
I now need to fix the mirror.
So far HP sent me 14 pages of very general instructions.
I will insert the information from sam that I can see for disk devices.
0/4/1/0.0.0.0.0 is the current boot drive
0/4/1/0.0.0.2.0 is the drive that needs to be added as the mirrored drive.
What is the best way to fix my problem?

Re: Repairing mirrored boot drive after disk failure

The rx3600 is using a SAS controller for internal disks (some things are different to other servers) - please post an
"ioscan -fn" to gether with "vgdisplay -v vg00" first.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Repairing mirrored boot drive after disk failure

redirect the new disk to the /dev/dsk/c11t1d0 device file according to the link above.

Once this is done, follow the replacement steps in

http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-1236/When_Good_Disks_Go_Bad.pdf

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Repairing mirrored boot drive after disk failure

When I tried to redirect the disk I got this error.

root@akhpux2:/comp>sasmgr replace_tgt -D /dev/sasd0 -q old_tgt=/dev/dsk/c11t1d0 -q new_tgt_hwpath=0/4/1/0.0.0.2.0
ERROR: Invalid qualifier (old_tgt) was specified
sasmgr [-f][-h] replace_tgt -D -q old_dev=
-q new_tgt_hwpath=

Re: Repairing mirrored boot drive after disk failure

Looking at the man pages it looks like the command should be changed to

sasmgr replace_tgt -D /dev/sasd0 -q old_dev=/dev/dsk/c11t1d0 -q new_tgt_hwpath=0/4/1/0.0.0.2.0

Can anyone comfirm this?

Re: Repairing mirrored boot drive after disk failure

Thanks but that is another link the the one that Torsten had linked. When I tried the command listed it errored and looks like it needs to be changed to what I asked about last. Can someone confirm that.

Re: Repairing mirrored boot drive after disk failure

I never did this after a reboot, but I would run this command now.

After this you should see the "old" device (both, hw-path and device file) again as CLAIMED.

The now "unused" disk will become NO_HW.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
