replace tape drive
hello,
on a rx2620 running hp-ux 11.23 a ultrium I tape drive (storageworks 230), connected to the server via a 5300 tape array has to be replaced.
as a replacement part we've chosen a hp ultrium 448 tape drive, suitable for the 5300 tape array.
do you know what has to be done in hpux in order to get the new drive working ?
currently when i'm doing a ioscan on the server, the "old" tape drive shows with "no_hw". after putting the new tape drive into the 5300 tape array, is there anything special to take care of ?

Re: replace tape drive
If you are using the same SCSI ID, do a "rmsf" to remove the old device files.
Install the new drive and do "insf" for this device.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: replace tape drive
Remove the device file with rmsf, refer man rmsf. Take reboot if you can, do ioscan -fnC tape and do insf -eC tape.
Thanks

Re: replace tape drive
ist set scsi id on new tape drive. run a ioscan;insf -e. then remove the device with NO_HW by rmsf -H 1/0/4/0/0.3.10.0.0.5.2 (h/w address)
It's kind of fun to do the impossible
