Request timed out error on hp apache 2.0.28 on hpux 11i
Dear Sirs,
We are using HP Apache 2.0.48 on hpux 11i. We see sometime the error message in the error_log as "server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting". This causes loss of connection to the clients, Connection timed out and approximately 102 TIME_WAIT in "netstat- an" output. I am thinking to increase kernel setting "MaxClients" to 256. At the same time i saw the settings in httpd.conf for the parameter "StartServers" as 2.
We get 96,000 hits per day to our site. The other settings are as shown below:
StartServers 2
MaxClients 150
MinSpareThreads 25
MaxSpareThreads 75
ThreadsPerChild 25
I am thinking to raise the new settings of "StartServers 5" and "MaxClients 256".
Any suggestion and help would be appreciable.
Thanks,
Shiv
