Request you to share HP UX names & versions for Oracle 10g Application Server

Hi All,

Can somebody please let me know the HP UX names and versions that we can use to install Oracle 10g Application Server and also please let me know the location to get the pros and crons for HP UX PA RISC versus HP UX Itanium servers to install Oracle 10g AS.

These are genral version needed.


Operating system version:

PA-RISC (64-bit) systems:

HP-UX 11i (11.11) PA-RISC

Itanium systems:

HP-UX 11i v2 (11.23)

Shalom,

Oracle 10g application server for IA-64 Itaniums is a different application set, based on a common code base.

The reason going Itanium is good is that sales of most if not all PA-RISC systems stop in 13 months. The long term viability of the Itanium platform seems to be better.

You should look for the latest update from the link http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/index.html

You may register on the www.oracle.com to download these softwares.

I used Oracle 10g application server on HP-UX 11.23. Please find the attachment containing the document I used to install this might be useful to you as well.

If you are planning to install both 10g application server and 10g software. Do make sure that you first install the 10g application server and then 10g Oracle software.

Hi Saleemuddin,

Use the certification matrix to determine the latest version you want to go to.

normally you would go for the latest available version.

e.g. Application Tier Certifications
11i v2 (11.23) : 10g (10.1.3.1.0)
11i v3 (11.31) : 10g (10.1.3.1.0)

We are almost 100 Itanium with a few PA-RISC systems left. We have been using Oracle 10G RAC for the last 4 years plus. Consider an rx6600 with Oracle 10gR2 RAC V10.2.0.3.0. If you have a specific Oracle question, I can ask one of our dbas.

PA-RISC is on the way out...
