Re: Require information on capturing disk/array details

Hi Sandip,

You can track "Description" part of the
#ioscan -fnC disk
output and also the Hardware path of the devices on the SAN are lenghty ones as compared to local devices.

Hope that helps.

Re: Require information on capturing disk/array details

Hi,
run command fcmsutil to check topology

fcmsutil /dev/tdX
replace tdX with you number from ioscan command
ioscan -fnkC fc

if your topology is FABRIC than it is SAN

In addition to what Slawomir has told, you can also do as follows.

ioscan -fnC fc
ioscan -fnC ext_bus

Re: Require information on capturing disk/array details

Both direct attached fiber and SAN connected fiber will have "long" HW Addresses.

You need to run the fcmsutil, as described above, to see "Fabric". Fabric means SAN.

Here's another way:

ioscan of Direct Attached Storage:

disk 1277 1/0/14/0/0.8.0.29.1.14.2 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE EMC SYMMETRIX

ioscan of SAN Attached Storage:

disk 1007 1/4/0/0.107.111.19.3.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE EMC SYMMETRIX

Notice that the Direct Attached address has ".8.0.29" in the first positions after the card. that is typical of Direct Attached Storage.

The SAN attached storage has "107.111.19" in the same positions. Again, typical of SAN.
