Re: restore from make_recovery
It's definitely possible if the new disk has more disk space than the old one. In this case you can increase ( or not increase) sizes of vg00 file systems. If the new disk has less space than the source, you will have to decrease sizes of some FS/SWAP, but please check previously whether the new sizes are enough for the data in the source FS.
Good luck

Re: restore from make_recovery
Sure it is possible, if the different disk is in the same server type.
Put in the tape. interrupt the boot proces. sea ipl, select the tape drive. boot P
To select the disk use advanced installation option. And select different disk, alter additional parameters if needed and go!

Gideon

Re: restore from make_recovery
You do not need to interact with IPL. You can go back and boot direct from tape. The server will do echo a hpux INSTALL during boot. The HD selection can takes place in ignite menu. Not from ISL prompt.

Re: restore from make_recovery
Here is the easiest manner to proceed,
1. interrupt the boot process.
2. sea (search for the bootable device)
3. bo PX (X is the tape device)
4. Understand that you may need local disk to install hp/ux, if you are using an external raid. Then you can mirror to FC disk, then split the mirror, set the default device as primary, and then reboot.
