Re: Restore from tape
If you want to clone the OS, create a make_tape_recovery tape on the source system, then boot from that tape on the target system. You can go through the menu to change IP address on the target system.

Re: Restore from tape
If you have make_recovery then laying OS is not required. Your tape itself is bootable and will also install OS. Try botting from it.
Allthough make_recovery was included in very old versions of ignite. The new versions have make_tape_recovery instead. If possiblae first upgrade your ignite on the source server.

Re: Restore from tape
Create make_teap_recovery and you can boot from this tape ,and can install a similar system.
Here is a example of make_tape_recovery command can be use:
# /opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -v -I -x inc_entire=vg00 -a /dev/rmt/0mn
Cheers,
Raj.

Re: Restore from tape
It's fine if u have the ignite archive on tape. You don't require the OS to be present in the bix where you are planning to restore the os.
All that you need to do is
1.insert the tape in to the drive(Hope it's a DAT) and exnure that the tape drive properly connected and powered on
2. Poweron the system and wait for the POST to complete, when the system prompt you to press any key to abort the autoboot, press any key
3.at PDC prompt enter sea command to find list the path of the tape drive attached(bootable)
4. Give bo
5. interact with ISL : N
6. Then the system will load the install image in to memory from tape and start the installation, alway better to go for an advanced installation with UI, so that u can customise the LVM requirements etc.
Wish u best success !!!

Sunil
