Restoring frm DAT backup
In a disaster recovery situation, if I were to take my latest DAT backup and do a full restore onto another HP system running the same OS (HPUX 11.x), would that recovery put me back into the same working state as the original backup? i.e. would the installations of NNM and other third party s/w work without any subsequent reconfiguration and leave me with a fully working system that was ready to go?
Thanks in anticipation.
Nick

Re: Restoring frm DAT backup
I don't think it will work like that.
at least NNM license base on IP address.
you have to request for new license.
the answer is it depend on how complex your application is.

Re: Restoring frm DAT backup
Hi Nick
the nnm will not work at all and you will have a lot of truble with oper the nnm .
my advise is to install the nnm and to restore
the cofig file like nodiscover and more config file of the nnm .
the nnm have a unique backup method that you must backup the database .
if you are installing with a diff ip adress you can do a move in the hp site of your license to a diff ip adress if you have the order number .
but the system will resote and will run if you will do a restore from a ignite backup

Re: Restoring frm DAT backup
Although NNM is bound to an IP address and databases etc require specific backups for restoring within the NNM scheme, surely if you restore the entire hard disk contents including for example the /etc/rc.config.d file which defines the IP addresses of interfaces etc and the rc1/2/3.d directories etc along with all the openview stuff how will the system know that is has been restored onto another OS?
