Restoring Ignite Backup
One of my customers is having HP rp 5470 server having HPUX 11i (11.11) and running oracle 8i release 3(8.1.7) & oracle apps 8.5.7. He has purchased HP rp 4440 server and want to cluster it with 5470. Is it possible to restore the Ignite backup of 5470 to 4440 and cluster them ? The customer is having MC service guard (A.11.14). Also, is it possible to upgrade oracle from 8i to 9i with the present configuration on both the servers?
Regards,
Shreejesh.

Re: Restoring Ignite Backup
Yes, you should be able to ignite the servers. Just be sure to do the interactive restore and set cloning to different hardware equal to true (under the additional options button)
Yes you should be able to cluster them.
Don't know about upgrading Oracle not enough info on the hardware (memory, disk, cpu, etc) - do the servers meet oracle 9i requirements? If so, you should be able to upgrade. In general, these systems should be able to run 9i, but again there is not enough info presented.

Re: Restoring Ignite Backup
When restoring the ignite backup on rp 4440 i am getting an error message "system panic : unidentified cpu type". rp 5470 is PA-8700 and rp 4440 is PA-8900. Is it because of this? Also the HPUX 11.11 on rp 5470 is of June 2002 version. Is there any way to restore the backup?
Thanks,
Shreejesh

Re: Restoring Ignite Backup
The above error is encountered was one where the version of Ignite-UX was not high enough to support the hardware in
the system. I guess you need to upgrade the version at the earliest.
About cloning you can refer the below doc for more information...
