restricting a printer

hi guys, please tell me what u think with these:

a. setting up a local printer (ux11.00)on hostA, how could i allow hostB and hostC to print while restrict hostD?

b. setting up a network printer, how could i allow hostB and hostC to print while restrict hostD?

in short, is it possible to restrict other hosts from printing hpux environment?

thanks

Re: restricting a printer

The short answer is that there is nothing in remote printing that controls access. You might modify the local printer script in /etc/lp/interface by determining the name of the remote system from the scheduling parameters and exit when the wrong system shows up.

Re: restricting a printer

Have you considered restricting the printer port in your inetd.sec file?

Ie, putting a line in /var/adm/inetd.sec like:

printer deny hostD

Of course that would deny ALL requests from hostD for printing from ALL printers.
I think, therefore I am... I think!
